Statement of Faith

Why we do what we do!
We believe:
In God the Father, God the Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. One God in all three persons created the heavens and the earth. When Adam and Even sinned in the garden, man was separated from God. God sent Jesus as a man and also fully God to die on the cross for our sins. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He left us the Holy Spirit to be our helper and our comforter. If we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God, He died on the cross and rose again on the third day and if we confess with our mouth then we will be saved.

2 Corinthians 13:14 “May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

John 14:11-17 11. Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12. Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. 15. “If you love me, keep my commands. 16. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17. the Spirit of truth.

Romans 10:8-10 8. But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9. that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10. for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

The Bible:
We believe that the Bible is the Holy Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and completely truthful in all it affirms. It bears witness to Jesus Christ, the Living Word and is infallible in its purposes. While reason, experience, and tradition together with the Bible serve to inform truth and life, the Scriptures are the primary authority in the rule of faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; Hebrews 4:12)

Faith and Works:
We believe that we are saved by faith by the grace of God and that He has prepared works for us ahead of time. He has a hope a plan and future for us that is not of evil but has hope.

Ephesians 2:8-10 8. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9. not by works, so that no one can boast. 10. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans that I [a]have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for [b]prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Financial Giving:
We believe in cheerfully giving to the Lord to help others through our church in tithing 10% and by giving offerings as the Holy Spirit leads.

Malachi 3:8-12 8. “Would anyone rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and [j]offerings. 9. You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the entire nation of you! 10. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and put Me to the test now in this,” says the LORD of armies, “if I do not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. 11. Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruit of your ground; nor will the vine in the field prove fruitless to you,” says the LORD of armies. 12. “All the nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says the LORD of armies.

2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must do just as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Service to Others:
The Bible is clear that whatever we do to take care of each other we do directly to Jesus. It is clear that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves and by doing this we are loving God who sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins. Our lives should be to serve one another in love.

Matthew 25:34-40 34. “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36. naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ 37. Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? 38. And when did we see You as a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39. And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40. And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.’

Galatians 5:13 13 For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.

Marriage and Family:
God made us male and female to work together and to be fruitful and multiply from the beginning of creation. It is God’s design for family and strong communities. God ordains marriage between one man and one woman to become one flesh and to raise children in the way of the Lord.

Genesis 2:21-24 21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 And the LORD God [s]fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said,

“At last this is bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called ‘woman,’
Because she was taken out of man.”

24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Mark 10:6-11 6. But from the beginning of creation, God CREATED THEM MALE AND FEMALE. 7. FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, 8. AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9. Therefore, what God has joined together, no person is to separate.”

Discipline:
We believe that discipline yields the fruit of righteousness and though it can be unpleasant it is for our good. God gives us parents to teach us in the way that we should go and to build righteous character in us. Discipline teaches us to communicate and how to restore relationships. It teaches us to be kind and to speak wholesomely as we forgive each other as Jesus died on the cross to forgive us of our sins.

Hebrews 12:9-11 9 Furthermore, we had [d]earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? 10. For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. 11. For the moment, all discipline seems not to be pleasant, but painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

Matthew 18:15-19 15 “Now if your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16. But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that ON THE TESTIMONY OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY MATTER MAY BE CONFIRMED. 17. And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, he is to be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 18. Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. 19. “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way that they should go and when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:15 15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him.

Ephesians 4:29-32 29. Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31. All bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice. 32. Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Conclusion:
We purpose to live by our statement of faith knowing that we cannot do anything good without the help of the Holy Spirit and salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. We seek to serve one another in love as we love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and strength as we love our neighbor as ourselves. We choose to seek God and His kingdom first as He adds to this endeavor.
